Tacoma, WA - Trojan Track and Field was back at it this weekend for the Peyton Shotwell Invitational, hosted by the University of Puget Sound on a cold and rainy Saturday.  The meet featured a combination of NCAA DII, DIII, and NWAC schools in which the Trojans showed extremely well placing 7th in the team scores on the women's side and 6th on the men's side, defeating both Olympic and Green River College, the only other two community colleges competing.

In the women's events, Mattason Straub placed 8th overall in the 200m (27.85) which currently ranks 6th in the NWAC and teammate Tracey Hatch placed 9th (27.98) ranks 8th best in the NWAC.  Sophomore Ellee London set season bests, finishing 6th in the 800m (2:28.35) and 8th in the 1500m (5:22.34).  Those times rank 7th best and 8th best in the NWAC.  Another sophomore, Grace Wright threw a new PR in the discus at 124'11" which was good enough for 2nd at the meet and bested several DII competitors.  That mark currently ranks her 2nd in the NWAC.  Freshman Livii Fetterly threw the shot for the first time this season in addition to competing in the 200m and 100m hurdles, and just so happened to hit the NWAC best mark at 36'2".  Her times in the 200m and 100m hurdles also rank 3rd and 2nd respectivly in the NWAC.

In the men's events, sophomore Mohamud Mohamud placed 3rd in the 100m and 7th in the 200m.  Christopher Grey placed 7th in the 400m and Elijah Ross-Rutter ran the 110m hurdles for the first time this season finishing 6th and recording 3 points towards the team score.  He also placed 5th in the triple jump for another 4 points.  The 4x400m relay team Gray, Mohamud, Buck, and Waterhouse finished 3rd and posted the 2nd fastest time of the season in the NWAC of 3:37.18.  Benito Zuze set a season best 44'11.75" triple jump which moved him up to 4th on the NWAC season best list and placed 3rd at the meet.  The lone event winner for the Trojans was once again Javon Grey, winning the triple jump with a mark of 47' 7.75".

Everett's final meet of the season is set for May 8th and will be hosted by Everett CC and Olympic College at Chief Sealth High School in Seattle.
