Trojans Compete at 40th Annual Ralph Vernacchia Invite

Bellingham, WA - Trojan Track and Field went north for the first time this season, participating in the 40th annual Ralph Vernacchia invite, hosted by Western Washington University.  The meet consisted of a mixture of NCAA DII, DIII, NAIA, NWAC, and club programs, giving EvCC strong competition in the final weeks before the NWAC Championships.

On the men's side, seven athletes competed, highlighted by Alec Dimmick's 5th place finish in the 800m, and setting a new PR at 1:59.88.  That time moves Alec up to 6th on the NWAC performance list for the 800.  Logan Marlow broke his 110 m hurdle record running 18.50, and although he did not PR, Markell Carter finished 2nd in the Triple jump with a mark of 13.34m.  His season best of 13.39 ranks 5th in the NWAC.

On the women's side only three athletes competed, but it was a big performance for Devyn Martin who ran the 100m for the first time this season and placed 4th overall with a time of 13.39, ranking her 11th in the NWAC.  She also set a new long jump record for herself at 4.88m which now ranks 8th in the NWAC.  The other two to compete were Iayanah Brewer in the 100H and Caelyn Foster in the mile.

The final meet left on the schedule is the Linfield Open on May 7th before the North Region Championship on May 14th and the NWAC Championships down in Gresham, OR on May 23rd-24th.
