Trojan Track & Field Shines at NWAC Championships

Gresham, OR - After a two year wait, the NWAC Track and Field Championships were back and it was a great two days for the Trojans.  EvCC athletes made the podium (top 8) 21 times in 42 men's and women's events and eight athletes were recognized as All-Americans for finishing inside the top 3 for a total of 12 times.  The women's team scored 68 points tying for 4th place, which is the highest team finish in recent years.  The men's team finished 7th overall and scored 51 points.

Women's Highlights

  • The 4x100 relay team (Mattason Straub, Tracey Hatch, Jessica Daode, Livii Fetterley) set a new season best and EvCC school record of 48.76 seconds to take first place and edge out Lane CC by 0.15 seconds.
  • Mattason Straub was a 3x All American, finishing 2nd in the 100m dash running 12.47 (PR), 2nd in the long jump with another PR at 17'9" (2nd all time at EvCC), and was the first leg of the 1st place relay team.  She was also the team's high point winner with 16 points.
  • Livii Fetterley gained All American status by finishing 3rd in the 100 hurdles, and was also the 2nd leg on the first place 4x100 relay team.  She also finished 5th in the shot put and 5th in the long jump setting a new PR of 15' 10.5".  All together she earned 14 points towards the team score.  
  • Tracey Hatch got to the podium 3 times, scoring a total of 9 points towards the team total. She placed 5th in the 200m dash with a PR of 26.62, 4th in the 400m dash with a time of 1:00.61 (PR) as well as ran the 3rd leg of the 1st place relay team
  • Jessica Daode placed 5th in the 100m and anchored the 1st place 4x100m relay team.
  • Devyn Martin competed in three events finishing 9th in the 100m prelims, 10th in the long jump, and gained All American status by finishing 3rd in the high jump.
  • Iayanah Brewer set a new PR in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.05 and finishing 5th.
  • Jamira Barnes finished 4th in the heptathlon, winning the hep shot put and finishing with 2575 points

Men's Highlights

  • Drew Hill was a 2x All American, finishing 3rd in the 200m dash and 1st in the 100m dash, while also taking the first leg in the 4x400m relay team that finished 5th.  He contributed 16 points towards the team total and tied for the team high point winner.
  • Javon Gray was also a 2x All American, finishing 3rd in the long jump setting a new PR of 23' 3.25" (5th all time at EvCC) and 1st in the triple jump with a PR mark of 50' 10" (2nd All Time at EvCC).  That mark was just 1.5" away from tying the conference meet record. He too contributed 16 points towards the team total and tied for the team high point winner. 
  • Alec Dimick became an All American when he broke his PR in the 800, running 1:56.91 and placed 3rd.
  • Tyler Buck got on the podium by finishing 6th in the 800.  He too broke his PR running 1:58.46.
  • Aiden Luhr podiumed with an 8th place finish in the 100m.
  • Markell Carter competed in both the long jump and the triple jump.  He finished 9th in the long jump and got on the podium by finishing 4th in the triple jump
