Second Oregon Trip Produces PR's

McMinnville, OR - The Trojans traveled back to Oregon for the Jenn Boyman Memorial Invitational hosted by Linfield College.  Eight different Trojans hit nine PR's and the men's relay teams both hit their top marks of the season.  Sophomore Iayanah Brewer ran in four events, including a leg in the women's 4x400 relay that took 3rd place overall, four seconds back from NWAC leading Lane who posted a new top time of 4:13.82.  Brewer got in her first 100m hurdles event of the season running 17.03 and finishing 6th overall (3rd among NWAC competitors).  The other sophomore Jamira Barnes, ran the 100m for the first time in her college career and hit 14.47 while also finishing 9th in the long jump at 13'3.5".  Gabriella Capetillo PR'd in the 200 at 29.68 and also anchored the 4x100 relay team that took 5th.  Another freshman, Emma Arceo shaved 3 seconds off of her 800m time to set a new PR at 2:30.97 and moving up to 5th in the NWAC rankings as an auto qualifier.  Sophia Mackenzie reached a new PR in the discus throwing five feet further than last weekend, and over 24 feet further than her first meet two weekends ago.  The new mark of 106'10" ranks 13th in the NWAC.  One of the top performers of the day for the women came from Jayda Pittman who ran in both relays and also ran in her first collegiate 400m race.  She took 7th overall and posted a time of 1:03.84 hitting the NWAC auto qualifier and ranking 5th in the NWAC, less than three seconds off of the top time.

Khalil Gilbert had another solid day on the track for the Trojans, competing in four events.  He ran in the 100m for the first time this season and placed 7th with a time of 11.46 and also did the long jump for the first time and placed 8th with a mark of 21'11.5" and hit the NWAC auto qualifier.  He now ranks 8th in the NWAC.  Khalil also ran legs in the 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay.  Both ended up being PR's for the team, and moving their ranking up to 5th in the 4x100m and 3rd in the 4x400m NWAC performance list.  The lone sophomore on the men's side, Aiden Luhr  posted his top 200m time of the season and freshman Elisha Jackson competed in four events including both relays and hitting a PR in the long jump at 19'6.75". 

The Trojans will be back at it this coming weekend, heading to Portland Oregon for the Lewis & Clark Larry Byerly Invite.
