Another Win in Tacoma

Another Win in Tacoma

Tacoma, WA – The Trojans used a 20-point fourth quarter to surge past Highline College on Saturday afternoon at the Tacoma Tip-Off Classic.  Mikail Montez and Sydney VanNess led the way with 14 points each and true freshman Maddy Thoma chipped in 13 points with 10 rebounds.

Everett got out to another hot start with six different players scoring and taking a 15-10 lead after the first quarter of action.  However, similar to the previous night the Trojans struggled offensively in the second quarter and only scored five points on 1-9 shooting from the floor.  Highline took advantage, hitting 3 of 4, three pointers and putting up 15 points total to take a five point lead going into the break.

Everett got a big quarter from Mikail Montez coming out of the half, putting up seven points and EvCC carved into the deficit, trailing by just one by the end of the third.  The difference in the game was the fourth quarter, when the Trojans outscored Highline 20-8.  EvCC shot 53% from the floor to HC's 25% and capitalized on three made threes in the final three minutes to seal the 56-45 win.

Thoma and Montez both recorded double-doubles and VanNess was one rebound away from a double-double performance.

The Trojans are slated to play next on November 29th at home against Douglas College of British Columbia.  Game time is set for 7:00pm.
