Perry and Montez Double-Double's Lead Trojans Over Tritons

Perry and Montez Double-Double's Lead Trojans Over Tritons

Lynnwood, WA - Women's hoops downed rival Edmonds College on Wednesday night by a final score of 66-50 on the heals of two double-double performance's and Sydney VanNess's 21 points.  The Trojans massively out-rebounded Edmonds as a team 51-27 and also posted double the amount of assists at 16-8.  Everett still struggled shooting from beyond the arc all game, but the defense, which has remained a constant all season long helped propel EvCC to their third straight win and a 7-3 north region record, which puts them in a tie for third place and needing just one more win to guarantee a spot in the playoffs.

The first quarter was as a rivalry game should be and by the end of the period, Everett held on to just a one point lead.  It would be the second and fourth quarters where the Trojans truly dominated, holding Edmonds to just 8 points in the 2nd quarter and outscoring the Tritons 23-13 in the 4th to seal the win.  For the game, the Trojan defense held Edmonds to just 27% shooting from the floor, 4% lower than their season average of 31%.  Sydney VanNess once again led the Trojans in scoring with 21 points, and Mikail Montez and Courtney Perry both posted double-doubles, Montez with 10 points and 14 rebounds, and Perry with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Everett has a tough task on the road this weekend against a scrappy Olympic team.  Everett defeated the Rangers 53-33 earlier in the month at home, but now EvCC is the road team, and Olympic has played great as of late with a narrow 57-55 loss to Shoreline and nearly upsetting Peninsula on the road, falling 67-64.  That game is set for 2pm.
