Highlights from the 2022 Season

Everett, WA - The Trojans ended the 2022 campaign with a 6-6-1 overall record and just missed out on a trip to the NWAC playoffs, finishing one point behind Shoreline for 4th place in the North region standings.  Everett had an opportunity to clinch a playoff birth for the first time since 2016 with a win over Bellevue in the final match of the season, but it was a tough road contest and Bellevue ultimately came away with the 3-1 win.

Despite the ending it was a solid bounce back season for a program that struggled keeping a healthy roster last season and for second year head coach Nicole Nsa, momentum and a foundation has been built leading into next season.  EvCC was led by freshman Elizabeth Martinez who scored 8 goals on the season and also tallied 4 assists to lead the team with 20 points.  For her efforts, Elizabeth was named 1st team all North Region and transfer sophomore Amy Gonzalez-Rios was also named 1st team all north region, scoring four goals from the midfield position.

A quartet of freshman contributed multiple goals this season of the 24 team total, including Paige Runcorn (3), Lucy Soriano-Sanchez (3), Evelyn Araiza (2), and Gadi Zesati (2).  Runcorn and Soriano-Sanchez made the honorable mention in addition to sophomore defender Teeghan Banfield.  Two sophomores split time primarily in goal this season, both battling through lingering injuries.  Yartiza Pelayo started in 8 matches, recording 40 saves, 3 shutouts, and a save percentage of 72%.  She finishes her EvCC career with 89 saves which ranks 4th all time at EvCC.  Vanessa Perez started in 4 matches and recorded 14 saves, with a 61 save percentage, and also got a shutout.  Freshman Alexa Svendsen primarily played in the field, but did record a game in goal where she made 3 saves in the 1-1 draw against Whatcom.

Elizabeth Martinez and Amy Soriano-Sanchez were selected as part of their first team recognition from the North Region to play in the NWAC All-Star game on Sunday, November 13th at 9:00am at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila, WA.
