Home Victory, honoring 13 Sophomores

Trojans celebrate after scoring a goal.

In the home regular season finale, the Trojans took on Whatcom CC and recognized 13 sophomores for their committment to to the program over the last two and in some cases three seasons.  EvCC used the emotions to their advantage and came away with a decisive 4-0 victory. 

The first half saw Everett taking control of the game, as they managed to secure two goals. In the 15th minute, Emily Marriott found the back of the net (for her 12th goal of her career) with an assist from Taryn Mori (her first of the season), giving Everett a 1-0 lead. The second goal came in the 29th minute, with Tori Bullard scoring off an assist from Emily Morandi, extending Everett's lead to 2-0.

The second half saw even more dominance from Everett, as they added two more goals to their tally. Emily Morandi continued her impressive performance, scoring in the 63rd minute with an assist from Ashlee Kluin, making it 3-0 in favor of Everett. Morandi then scored her second goal of the half in the 86th minute with a free kick goal from 25 yards out, sealing the victory for Everett at 4-0.

It grew to be a physical match with both teams collecting numerous fouls throughout the match.  Everett ended the match receiving a total of seven yellow cards while Whatcom was cautioned twice. 

Despite the score, both teams had a total of 17 shots, with Everett having a slightly better shot on goal conversion rate, with 9 shots on target compared to Whatcom's 7. The goalkeepers had an excellent performance, with Ruby Wacker from Everett making 7 saves and Rachel Dowdell from Whatcom making 5 saves.

The win improved Everett's record to 6-6-1, with a 6-4-1 conference record, with one final game remaining on the schedule.  Everett will travel to #1 ranked Skagit Valley College on Saturday and will need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.  A win however will not be enough as the Trojans also need Bellevue to either lose twice or lose and take a draw in their final two matches of the season.  Kick off on Saturday is scheduled for 12:00pm in Mt. Vernon.
