Ingram Earns All-Tournament in Spokane

Spokane, WA - The Trojans headed east to Spokane over the Labor Day weekend for a tournament hosted by the Community Colleges of Spokane.  It would be another test for the young Trojans teams, matching up with powerhouse programs such as Linn-Benton, Pierce (runners up in 2019), and host Spokane (2019 champions).

Everett opened up the tournament with Pierce and fell 3-0, but put up a fight, scoring 19, 20, and 20 points in the three sets.  Erin Ingram and Jayda Grosboll led EvCC with 6 kills apiece, while Lauren Riske led defensively with 8 digs.  Ingram recorded 3 service aces and added a solo block to lead the team with 10 points scored.

The second match of the day came against another perennial contender in Linn-Benton, and again the Trojans fell 3-0.  Sarah Campfield was the highlight of the match for EvCC, recording 4 blocks and 5 kills with a .308 hitting percentage.  She also led the team with 9 points scored.

The Trojans rebounded on the 2nd day of the tournament, taking on Columbia Basin who was coming off of two 3-0 losses to Pierce and Linn-Benton as well.  Everett dominated the first set, winning 25-15.  The 2nd set was much closer at 25-23, but the Trojans still prevailed.  Momentum in the match shifted with CBC taking the next two sets forcing a 5th set for the 4th time this season for EvCC.  Despite the momentum change, Everett battled back to take the 5th set by a score of 15-11.  Erin Ingram had a monstrous game, finishing with 23 kills for a new collegiate career high.   Stasia Kaahanui tied her season high of 10 kills and Claire Lyshol had a career day as well with 3 aces and 19 digs.

The final match of the tournament came against 2019 defending NWAC champions, Spokane.  The Trojans came out riding the high of defeating CBC and played extremely will in the first set taking it 25-18.  But, the host school and defending champs re-focused and took the next three sets 13-25, 18-25, and 23-25 to secure the win.  Erin Ingram had another stellar performance with 13 kills, and Claire Lyshol had another solid defensive match with 19 digs.

For the four-game tournament, freshman setter Jayda Grosboll led the team with 109 assists, Rachael Hendrickson had 7 service aces, Claire Lyshol led with 44 digs, Sarah Campfield led with 12 total blocks, and Erin Ingram was named to the all tournament team with 46 kills and led the Trojans with 56.5 points.

The Trojans, now 3-5 on the season will face Pierce again on Tuesday afternoon at 5:00pm at Pierce College and will follow that match up with their first contest of the year against Green River College at 7pm.
