Everett, WA - Everett hosted their second north region match of the week on Friday night, hoping to redeem a tough 3-0 defeat to Whatcom, two nights prior. Shoreline came in with a 5-7 record and the two teams were evenly matched through the first half of the set, Shoreline with the slight edge at 10-9. The Dolphins went on an 11-5 run, but Everett made things interesting going on a 7-3 run on their own. EvCC would get as close as 23-20, but Shoreline closed out the first set on two straight points.
In set 2 Shoreline took a commanding 9-1 lead, but the Trojans showed no quit and answered with a 7-1 run to pull within 3. Shoreline answered with their own 7-1 run to push the lead back up to 8, yet the Trojans still fought and brought it back to 2 at 17-15. A 3 point run by Shoreline was answered by a 4 point run for the Trojans forcing SCC to take a timeout at 19-20 in favor of Everett. The Dolphins came out of the timeout scoring the next 3 of 4, and then converted on set point to win 25-21.
Set 3 was another dominating start for the Dolphins that saw the visitors jump out to a 14-1 lead. The deficit would grow to as much as 16, before Shoreline secured the final point for the set and match win at 25-9.
Everett will have a week off but must refocus for next Friday's rivalry game with Edmonds who is off to a solid start this season at 13-6. That game will be at home with the first serve at 7:00pm.
