Volleyball Splits on Opening Weekend

Bellingham, WA - The Trojans got the 2022 season underway with a trip to Bellingham for a pre-season tournament hosted by Whatcom CC.  Everett faced quality opponents in Pierce College, Rogue CC, Highline College, and Walla Walla CC all four of which were playoff teams last season.

In the opening match the Trojans took on defending West region champions Pierce College and took the opening set 25-19.  Set two was tight throughout and was tied at 24-24, but Pierce rallied to take it 26-24.  It was more of the same in the following set, with Pierce taking another close one by two points, 25-23.  Everett responded with more focus and determination coming away with a 25-16 set four win, but ultimately Pierce prevailed 15-9 to take the match 3-2.

Everett responded in the next match of the day taking on Rogue CC, another high caliber program that finished 3rd in the south region last season, and completed a comback victory defeating the Ospreys in five sets by scores of 19-25, 15-25, 25-19, 25-17, and 15-7.

On day two, Everett played perhaps a bit tired and lost in three to Highline College but recovered well to defeat Walla Walla in the final match of the weekend in three sets by decisive scores of 25-16, 25-13, and 25-16.

The Trojans will come home to play in a single match on Wednesday evening, where they will take on Tacoma CC at 5:00pm
