Edmonds Outlasts Everett in Lynnwood

Jolena Hoefer spikes the ball over the net against Edmonds

Lynnwood, WA - The Trojans faced off against rival Edmonds on Friday night looking to extend their two game win streak in north region play.  EvCC last faced the Tritons back on September 27th and while it was a competitive match, Edmonds prevailed in three sets.  Everett got off to a good start in the opening set with a 14-11 lead, but the home Tritons regrouped and outscored EvCC 14-4 to close out the set and set the tone for the remainder of the match.

Everett kept the second set close and only trailed by two at 15-13, but Edmonds rattled off 7 straight points.  Just as it appeared as though the Tritons would run away with the set, the Trojans responded with a 9-1 run, however the defecit was too much to overcome and ultimately fell 25-22.  The #5 ranked home Tritons, led the entire way in the third set, getting up by as much as five before Everett cut it back to three at 20-17.  Everett's downfall was allowing too many Edmonds runs, and it was a 5 point stretch that sealed the set and match win for Edmonds 25-17.

It was not a strong offensive night for the Trojans, Malia Shepherd and Annika Jones each only recording 7 kills, well below their averages.  Defensively the Trojans played well led by Cam Clarke's 16 digs and as a team EvCC combined for 7 blocks, their highest total in four matches.

Everett remains in 4th place in the north region standings, with an important upcoming match at home against Skagit Valley, who has been red hot as of late, winning four in a row and defeating Edmonds 3-1 at home last week.  The match will be Wednesday October 25th at 7:00pm.
