Volleyball Mini Tournament Results (9/3) - In the mini tournament that Everett CC hosted on 9/3, the first matches had Everett beating Pierce College in four games with scores of 25-12; 25-20; 22-25 and 25-9. On the other court, Green River CC beat Shoreline CC in three games with scores of 25-7; 25-19 and 25-21. In the second matches that started at 7:00pm, Everett CC beat Green River CC in 4 four games with scores of 21-25; 25-20; 25-19; and 28-23 while on the second court, it took five games for Pierce College to beat Shoreline CC. The scores for that match were: 25-21; 20-25; 25-27; 25-19 and 15-8. Everett is now 2-0 overall with 6 sets for and 2 sets against; Green River CC is 4-4 overall with 12 sets for and 11 sets against; Pierce College is 1-1 overall with 4 sets for 5 sets against; and Shoreline CC is 0-3 overall with 2 sets for and 9 sets against. All of these matches were non-league.

 

Results vs Blue Mountain CC & Olympic CC (9/9) - On Tuesday, Sept. 9th, Everett CC Volleyball hosted a double header for Blue Mountain CC to play non-league games with Everett CC and Olympic College. The first match began at 5:00pm and had Everett facing Blue Mountain. The Timberwolves won the match in 3 sets with scores of 25-14, 25-11 and 25-14. Stats Highs for Everett: Natalia Sulantay 5 kills & 13 digs; Marsha Poischbeg 14 assists; Koko Kauhi 14 digs. Stat Highs for Blue Mountain:  Sierra Linke 9 kills & 6 digs; Amorelle Applin 8 kills; Kylie Collins 16 assists; Sam Odren 10 assists; Klaree Hobart 25 digs. Everett CC is now 2-1 overall with 6 sets for and 5 sets against. The match between Olympic College and Blue Mountain CC started at 7:00pm. This match went 4 sets with Blue Mountain winning with scores of 25-22, 25-18, 23-25, 25-17. Stat Highs for Blue Mountain: Sierra Linke 12 kills; Amorelle Applin 10 kills; Kylee Giles 16 digs; Klaree Hobart 31 digs; Kylie Collins 17 assists & 12 digs; Maci Beierle 15 assists. Stat Highs for Olympic: Colby Barnette 17 kills; Ashlee Trane 47 assists & 14 digs; Brylie Barnette 21 digs; Makaela Kindell 18 digs; Hannah Hudson 17 digs. Blue Mountain is now 11-1 overall with 32 sets for and 6 sets against and Olympic is 8-3 overall with 24 sets for and 17 sets against.

 

Results vs Grays Harbor & Lower Columbia (9/13) - Saturday, Sept. 13th, had the Trojan Volleyball Team host a double header starting at 10:00am in the Student Fitness Center. The first match at 10am was against the Chokers of Grays Harbor College. The Trojans won in four - 3 sets to 1 with scores of 25-21, 23-25, 25-23, 25-8. The second match began at 12pm against the Red Devils of Lower Columbia College. This match went five sets and Everett won 3 sets to 2 with scores of 26-24, 18-25, 25-27, 25-18, 15-9. No stats were listed online. After these matches, Everett is 4-1 overall with 12 sets for and 8 sets against, while Grays Harbor is 4-6 overall with 14 sets for and 22 sets against and Lower Columbia is 2-4 overall with 8 sets for and 12 sets against.

 

Volleyball Crossover Results Day #2 (9/20) - The second day of the NWAC Crossover Tournament started at9:00am with two matches taking place. The 3 out of 5 matches were: Everett def Centralia 25-13; 25-12; 25-17 and Whatcom def Grays Harbor 25-16; 25-23; 25-16. Everett advanced to play Big Bend & Whatcom to play Blue Mountain at 10:30am. Centralia & Grays Harbor moved down to the loser bracket, which are 2 out of 3 matches, to play the losers of Everett/Big Bend & Whatcom/Blue Mountain at 12pm. In the 10:30am matches, Everett def Big Bend 25-22; 14-25; 25-21; 25-16 and Blue Mountain def Whatcom 25-17; 25-18; 25-12. Everett & Blue Mountain advanced to play at 1pm. At 12:00pm, Whatcom def Centralia 25-5; 25-13, sending Centralia home and Big Bend def Grays Harbor 25-23; 25-10, sending Grays Harbor home. Whatcom & Big Bend advance in the loser bracket to play each other with the loser going home and the winner playing the loser of the Everett/Blue Mountain match. At 1:00pm Blue Mountain def Everett 25-20; 25-10; 25-21 to advance to the Championship Game, and Big Bend def Whatcom 25-22; 20-25; 15-5. Everett and Big Bend played at 2:30pm for the chance to play Blue Mountain in the Championship Game. Everett def Big Bend 25-21; 25-23 to advance. It was decided before the match by the coaches that the Championship Match would be 2 out of 3. Blue Mountain won the Title with scores of 25-12 & 25-9. 1st Blue Mountain CC (24-1); 2nd - Everett CC (9-4); 3rd - Big Bend CC (10-8); 4th - Whatcom CC (5-12); tied 5th - Centralia College (0-6) & Grays Harbor College (6-12).

 

Volleyball Crossover All-Tournament Team (9/20) - With the conclusion of the 2014 NWAC Volleyball Crossover Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 20th. Everett CC Athletics would like to Congratulate Blue Mountain Community College on their 14-0 record and winner of the Championship Title. We'd also like to announce the All-Tournament Team for the Crossover, they are: Becca Ball - Centralia College; Tasha Lee Grays Harbor College; Jillian Segalini - Whatcom CC; Shania Bateman - Big Bend CC; Marsha Poischbeg Everett CC; Natalia Sulantay - Everett CC; Klaree Hobart - Blue Mountain CC; Sierra Linke - Blue Mountain CC; and the MVP of the Tournament is Kylee Giles - Blue Mountain CC.

 

Results vs Olympic (9/24) - The first volleyball league match of the 2014 season had the Trojans traveling to play the Rangers of Olympic College in Bremerton, WA on Wednesday, Sept. 24th. The first set began at 7:00pm and ended in a close game with Everett winning that set 26-24. The second and third set went to Olympic with scores of 25-10 & 25-13. The fourth set had Everett winning 25-22 to force a fifth and deciding set. In the fifth set, the Rangers outplayed the Trojans to win the set and the match with a score of 15-6. Game Highs:  Everett - Natalia Sulantay 15 kills & 9 digs; Masha Poischbeg 37 assists; Miranda Davidson 18 digs.  Olympic - Danielle Chu 17 kills; Ashlee Trane 46 assists & 10 digs; Brylie Barnette 11 kills, 18 digs & 10 assists; London Bockenstedt 15 kills. Everett is now 0-1 in league, 9-5 overall with 27 sets for and 20 sets against. Olympic is 1-0 in league, 13-5 overall with 41 sets for and 25 sets against.

 

Results vs Whatcom (10/1) - The league match between the Trojans and Orcas of Whatcom CC took place at the EvCC Student Fitness Center on Wednesday, Oct. 1st. It started at 7:00pm. The intense back and forth first set ended with Everett winning with a score of 28-26. The second set had the Orcas winning 25-15 to send both teams into the 10-minute break each with a win in the 3 out of 5 match. Coming out of the break, the third set was close, however the Trojans won 25-22. In the fourth set, the Trojans took over and won the game 25-13. Everett is now 1-1 in league and 10-5 overall with 30 sets for and 21 sets against. Whatcom is 1-2 in league and 6-14 overall with 23 sets for and 43 sets against.

 

Results vs Shoreline (10/3) - Everett's Volleyball Team was at Shoreline CC in Seattle, WA on Friday, October 3rd to play a league match that started at 7:00pm. The first set was close with the Dolphins winning only by three points 25-22. The second set had Dolphins holding the Trojans off with a score of 25-18, while the third set had them winning a little bit easier 25-15. This takes the Trojans to a 1-2 league record and a 10-6 overall record with 30 sets for and 24 sets against. Shoreline is now 2-2 in league and 3-9 overall with 14 sets for and 29 sets against. Game Highs: Everett - Natalia Sulantay 12 kills, 7 digs and 3 ace serves; Marsha Poischbeg 23 assists. Shoreline - M'Kailah Redden 13 kills; Kamalani Fujikawa 11 kills; Malia Parilla 37 assists and Monica Postor 9 digs.

 

Results vs Edmonds (10/8) - The Trojans faced the Tritons of Edmonds CC at EdCC on Wednesday night Oct. 8th at 7pm. The first and second set had the same scores, however each team had the higher score to win - Everett won the first while Edmonds won the second 25-20. The third set had Everett winning 25-19 and then winning the fourth set 25-17 to win the match. Game Highs: Everett - Natalia Sulantay 13 kills, 13 digs, 4 ace serves; Amanda Marvin 12 kills, Marsha Poischbeg 35 assists; Julianna Bethune 15 digs; Koko Kauhi 13 digs. Edmonds - Gabi Mahler 10 kills & 11 digs; Carly Sims 17 kills, Carly Reese 19 digs; Mariah Martin 37 assists; Delaney Watson 11 digs. Everett is now 2-2 in league, 11-6 overall with 33 sets for and 25 sets against. Edmonds is 1-3 in league, 1-15 overall with 9 sets for and 44 sets against.

 

Results vs Skagit (10/10) - The league match between the Trojans of EvCC and the Cardinals of Skagit Valley College took place Friday night, Oct. 10th in the Student Fitness Center. The first set started at 7:00pm, and when it ended the Trojans beat the Cardinals by ten, 25-15. The second set finished with the Trojans winning again, this time with a score of 25-22. After the 10-minute intermission, both teams warmed up to get ready for the third set. The third set ended like the second with the Trojans winning 25-22 to sweep the Cardinals in three straight sets. Game Highs: Everett - Amanda Marvin 13 kills; Natalia Sulantay 10 digs & 7 kills; Marsha Poischbeg 29 assists. Cardinals - Hannah Pitsch 9 kills; Anuhea Paiva 14 digs; Kiana Calles 24 assists. Everett is now in third place in the Northern Region with a league record of 3-2, an overall record of 12-6 with 36 sets for and 25 sets against. Skagit Valley is now in a three way tie for fifth place with a 1-4 league record, an 4-19 overall record with 22 sets for and 59 sets against.

 

***Volleyball Player Sulantay named NWAC POW 10/13 - Freshman Trojan Volleyball Player, Natalia Sulantay, was named the Northern Region Offensive Player of the Week as well as the NWAC (Northwest Athletic Conference) Offensive Player of the Week for Week #5. During the week of Oct. 6th - Oct. 12th,  Valley College on the 10th. Coaches comment on the nomination is: "Most consistent player all around for us this past week."*

 

Results vs Bellevue (10/15) - The Bellevue College Bulldogs were at the Student Fitness Center to play a league volleyball match with the Trojans. The first set started at 7:00pm after the National Anthem and the reading of both teams lineups. The Bulldogs won the first set with a score of 25-17. The second set was a little closer with the Trojans able score more than 17, but it wasn't enough to win the game, Bellevue won 25-20. After a 10 minute intermission, both teams came back out ready to play. The third set ended 2624, however Bellevue was the team that won and that gave them the win for the match. Everett is now 3-3 in league, 12-7 overall with 36 sets for and 28 sets against. Bellevue is now 5-1 in league, 11-7 overall with 37 sets for and 23 sets against. Game Highs:  Everett ~ Amanda Marvin 12 kills; Masha Poischbeg 25 assists; Koko Kauhi 9 digs. Bellevue ~ Kayley Watkins 14 kills; Loretta Forrest 14 kills & 10 digs; Kristin Hickey & Sara Pulaski each with 13 digs.

 

Results from 2014 NWAC Crossover Tournament (10/18-10/19) - The Trojan Volleyball Team was in Aberdeen, WA participating in the 2014 NWAC Crossover Tournament hosted by Grays Harbor College on Saturday & Sunday, Oct. 18th & 19th. On Saturday, their first match was against Umpqua CC and in that 2 out of 3 match, the Trojans won in 2 with scores of 25-19 & 25-10. Their second match was with the Western Washington University Club Team and the Trojans once again won in 2 with scores of 25-15 & 25-23. In their third match against Pierce College, the match went three sets and had Pierce winning with scores of 25-20, 22-25 & 15-10. Sunday's schedule was determined by how the teams finished on Saturday. For their first match on Sunday, the Trojans faced Shoreline CC. Sunday's matches were 3 out of 5 and the match with Shoreline went 4 sets with Everett winning 17-25, 25-11, 25-14 & 25-15. That had the Trojans once again facing WWU Club team and this match also went 4 sets. This match had the Trojans winning with scores of 23-25, 29-27, 25-17 & 25-22 to advance to the championship match with the Knights of Wenatchee Valley College. The championship match went all five sets and after the fifth set, the Knights were victorious. Scores from the match in favor of WVC were: 25-21, 20-25, 25-12, 26-28, 15-8. All of these games takes the Trojans overall record to 16-9 with 49 sets for and 35 sets against. Trojan Marsha Poischbeg was named to the All-Tournament Team.

 

Results vs Olympic (10/22) - The Trojan Volleyball team hosted the Olympic College Rangers in a league match on Wednesday, Oct. 22nd. The match began at 7:00pm in the Student Fitness Center. The Rangers won the match in three straight sets to remain undefeated in league play. Scores for the sets were: 25-22, 25-20, 25-21. The Trojans are now in 4th place in the North with a league record of 3-4 and an overall record of 16-10 with 49 sets for and 38 sets against. The Rangers are still in 1st place in the North with a 7-0 league record, a 22-6 overall record with 68 sets for and 31 sets against. Game Highs: Everett ~ Natalia Sulantay 15 kills; Amanda Marvin 10 kills; Marsha Poischbeg 34 assists.  Olympic ~ Colby Barnette 16 kills; Brylie Barnette 12kills; Ashlee Trane 34 assists.

 

Results Whatcom (10/28) - The league volleyball match between the Trojans and the Orcas of Whatcom CC took place on Tuesday, Oct. 28th at Meridian High School in Bellingham, WA. The first set began at 7:00pm. Everett won the first set with a score of 25-15, then won the second set 25-22. After the ten minute intermission, Whatcom came out and won the third set 25-20. The fourth set had the Trojans winning 25-21 to win the match 3 sets to 1 set. The win takes the Trojans to a 4-4 league record and tied with Skagit Valley College for 3rd place in the Northern Region, with an overall record of 17-10 with 52 sets for and 39 sets against. The loss moves the Orcas to a 2-7 league record and in 6th place, their overall record is 9-22 with 35 sets for and 71 sets against. Game Highs:  Everett ~ Amanda Marvin 19 kills & 9 digs; Natalia Sulantay 12 kills & 9 digs; Caitlyn Johnson 10 kills; Marsha Poischbeg 39 assists & 9 digs; Miranda Davidson 23 digs.  Whatcom ~ Kortney Grattic 14 kills & 13 digs; Hanna Halverson 28 assists; Karly Dejager 10 kills; Sara Tysdal 16 digs.

 

***2 Trojan Volleyball players named POW 10/29 - On Oct. 29th, the NWAC released the Volleyball Players of the Week for week #8. For their play during the week of Oct. 20th - Oct. 26th, Marsha Poischbeg was named the Northern Region Setter of the Week and Miranda Davidson was named the Northern Region Defensive Player of the Week.  Poischbeg is a sophomore from Everett High School and Davidson is a freshman from Kamiak High School. Congratulations to both players!*

 

Results vs Mt. Hood CC--Dorian Harris Halloween Tournament (10/31-11/1) - The Trojan Volleyball Team was at Mt. Hood CC in Gresham, OR on Oct. 31st and Nov. 1st to participate in the 2014 Dorian Harris Halloween Tournament. The Trojans faced the Riverhawks of Umpqua CC first. The match went four sets with Everett winning three of them. Scores for the match were, 22-25; 25-12; 25-7; 25-10. Their second match was against the Titans of Tacoma CC. This match went three sets and unfortunately, TCC won all three with scores of 25-16; 25-15; 25-19. On Saturday, the Trojans first match was against the Saints from the host school - Mt. Hood CC. The three sets in this match were very close and at the end, had Everett winning with scores of 25-21; 30-28; 2523. The second match had them facing Northern Region rival Skagit Valley College. While Everett won the first set 25-18, they were unable to win the match and lost the next three sets with scores of 25-22; 25-17; 25-19. This loss moved them to the loser bracket and a 2 out of 3 match against the Storm from Chemeketa CC. The Storm won in tw sets with scores of 25-20 & 25-20 to send the Trojans home. Everett is now 20-13 overall with 62 sets for and 48 sets against.

 

Results vs Edmonds (11/5) - In the final home volleyball match of the 2014 season, the Trojans hosted the Tritons of Edmonds CC on Wednesday, Nov. 5th. Before the match started, two Trojan Sophomores (Marsha Poischbeg & Koko Kauhi) were recognized and thanked for their participation and hard work for the past two years by their fellow teammates. Once the match started, even though it only went three sets, those three sets were pretty close. Everett won the match with scores of 25-21; 30-28; 2523. Game Highs: Everett~ Natalia Sulantay 15 kills; Marsha Poischbeg 27 assists; Koko Kauhi 13 digs; Miranda Davidson 11 digs. Edmonds~ Carly Sims 11 kills; Gabi Miller 10 kills; Delaney Watson 13 assists; Mariah Martin 15 assists. Everett is now 6-4 in league and 21-13 overall with 65 sets for and 48 sets against. Edmonds is now 1-9 in league and 2-25 overall with 17 sets for and 73 sets against.

 

Results vs Skagit (11/7) - On Friday, Nov. 7th, the Trojan Volleyball team traveled to Mt. Vernon, WA to play a league match at Skagit Valley College against the Cardinals. The match began at 7:00pm and the first set ended in a score of 25-21 in favor of the Cardinals. The next three sets had the Trojans winning with scores of 25-20; 25-18; 26-24 to win the match 3 sets to 1 set. Everett has now locked in third place in league with a 7-4 record and an overall record of 22-13 with 68 sets for and 49 sets against. Skagit Valley has a league record of 4-7 and an overall record of 11-26 with 45 sets for and 85 sets against. Game Highs: Trojans - Natalia Sulantay 16 kills; Marsha Poischbeg 33 assists; Miranda Davidson 12 digs. Cardinals - Rian Larsen 17 kills; Hannah Pitsch 18 kills; Mia Adams 12 kills; Kiana Calles 46 assists; Anuhea Paiva 17 digs.

 

Results vs Bellevue (11/11) - The final regular league match of the 2014 volleyball season took place at Bellevue College on Tuesday, Nov. 11th in Bellevue, WA. The first set started at 7:00pm and it was a tough match from beginning to end going all five sets. The Bulldogs won the first two sets with scores of 25-21 & 25-18 with the Trojans winning the next two sets with scores of 25-21 & 25-20. The fifth and final set only went to 15 and at the end, Bellevue won by a score of 15-8. Bellevue improved their second place league record to 10-2 and overall record to 18-10 with 59 sets for and 37 sets against. Everett stayed in third place in league with a 7-5 record and 22-14 overall record with 70 sets for and 52 sets against. Game highs: Everett - Natalia Sulantay 19 kills & 12 digs; Amanda Marvin 14 kills; Miranda Davidson 14 digs; Marsha Poischbeg 36 assists. Bellevue - Angela Jones 14 kills; Loretta Forrest 14 kills, 10 digs & 4 aces; Sara Pulaski 23 digs; Kayley Watkins 13 kills; Kelcie Russell 12 kills; Danielle Smullin 46 assists.

 

NWAC Championships Results Day #1 (11/20) - The Trojan Volleyball Team was in Tacoma, WA to participate in the 2014 NWAC Championship Tournament over Nov. 20-23 at the Tacoma Convention Center. The tournament is a true double elimination style tournament and the first round and subsequent "winner's bracket" are 3 out of 5 matches. The loser's bracket is a 2 out of 3 match. In the first day, the Trojans faced the Sasquatch from the CC's of Spokane in their first match at 11:30am. Spokane won in three straight sets with scores of 25-15, 25-22; 25-13. Game highs: Everett - Natalia Sulantay 9 kills, Marsha Poischbeg 15 assists, Miranda Davidson 12 digs. Spokane - Jacy Vining 16 kills, Emily Russell 18 assists, Madison Zinsli 14 assists, Lizz Ridley 16 digs, Korrie Stephenson 10 digs. This loss sent Everett to the loser bracket where they played at 6:30pm against Southwestern Oregon CC in a loser out match. This match went three sets and Everett won two of them to stay alive at the tournament. The scores were 25-19, 15-25 & 15-12. Game Highs: Everett ~ Natalia Sulantay 15 kills, Marsha Poischbeg 19 assists, Koko Kauhi 10 digs. SWOCC ~ Gabby White 6 kills, Christine Wing 19 assists & 13 digs, Brandi Wilson 11 digs. SWOCC's season came to an end with the loss. Everett will play the loser of the Friday's 12:30pm Olympic College v Linn-Benton CC match at 4:45pm on Friday.

 

NWAC Championships Results Day #2 (11/21-22) - At day two of the 2014 NWAC Volleyball Championship Tournament, the Trojans faced the Roadrunners from Linn-Benton CC at 4:45pm on Friday, Nov. 21st, as LBCC lost to Olympic College in their match at 12:30pm. In the loser out match, the Trojans were able to win and send LBCC home with winning in two sets with scores of 25-18 in both sets. Game Highs: Everett ~ Natalia Sulantay 7 kills, Amanda Marvin 8 kills, Caitlyn Johnson 7 kills, Marsha Poischbeg 21 assists. Linn-Benton ~ Natasha Bogdanovic 7 kills, Samantha Rouleau 14 assists. Everett's win moved them on to play at 10am on Saturday against Chemeketa CC. In the match with Chemeketa, the first set was very close and Chemeketa only won by two points 26-24. The second set had the Trojans winning 25-21 to force a third and deciding set. The final set ended with a score of 15-12 and the Storm from Chemeketa CC was the winner. Chemeketa moves on to play and Everett's season is over. Everett finishes with a league record of 7-5 in third place in the Northern Region, an overall record of 24-16, with 75 sets for and 58 sets against. Chemeketa ~ Maranda Boeder 12 kills, Shawna Erickson 10 kills, Courtney Highin 31 assists, Alexis Martinez 12 digs.
