Trojan Athletics Year in Review 2021-2022

The Trojans completed a very competitive 2021-2022 year with three teams claiming north region championships as well as recognition from the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCCA) who announced the final standings in the prestigous Daktronics and Learfield Cups.  The Trojans finished tied for 15th in the State Association Division and just outside the Top 30 in the Learfield Directors Cup.  There are 146 colleges in the State Association Division (west coast) and over 660 two-year colleges across the country that compete in the Learfield Directors Cup.

  • 4 teams maintained GPA's above 3.0
  • T-Trophy Champions over Edmonds
  • 12 individuals and 3 teams recognized at the Hall of Fame Banquet that was brought back after 2-year hiatus due to COVID.

Cross Country

Sophomore Avery Daniels led the Trojan women with a 13th place overall finish at the NWAC Championship meet. As a team the women placed 5th, but were North Region champions for the 11th time in the past 15 years.   The men were led by freshman Adolfo DeRobles and returning sophomore Ryan Barene.  DeRobles and Barene finished 6th and 7th respectively in the NorthWest Region Championship meet. Seven athletes made the academic honor roll; WXC had an annual team GPA of 3.09.

Women's Soccer

First full season back from COVID-19, hired new head coach Nicole Nsa. Played 5 games before a light roster was decimated by injuries and the season was ultimately cancelled in mid September.  The team did pick up a 3-2 win over Shoreline CC. Five athletes made the academic honor roll.

Men's Soccer

10-6-2 record for first year head coach Kieren Raney. Finished 3rd in North region and advanced to the NWAC quarterfinals defeating Blue Mountain CC on the road in the first round of the playoffs.  Solid offensive team avg. 2.33 goals per game, tied for 2nd most in program history. River Stewart's 16 goals tied for most in a single season at EvCC. Dani Amador & Jackson Cole named all north region, and River Stewart was the North Region MVP.  Ten made the academic honor roll.

Women's Volleyball

Whitney Williams's first full season as head coach, 9-17 overall record, but a turning point in the competitiveness of the program.  Defeated Shoreline for the first time since 2015. Erin Ingram was named 2nd team all north region, Sarah Campfield was honorable mention, & Claire Lyshol was on the sophomore all star team. Seven made the academic honor roll.

Women's Basketball

Finished 9-5 north region record, 3rd place in the north in Jeannie Thompson's first year as head coach, qualified for the playoffs for the 5th time in six years. Defeated Edmonds twice, securing points towards the T-Trophy. Mikail Montez had 218 rebounds, 7th all time on single season rebound list, held teams to 34% shooting, one of the best defensive teams at EvCC, Montez named 2nd team all north region, & Sydney VanNess 1st team. Five made academic honor roll.

Men's Basketball

Finished 16-9 overall record but failed to make playoffs in a deep north region, only the 2nd time head coach Mike Trautman missed the playoffs, had qualified the previous three seasons and won 3 straight north region titles.  Brendon Redford was 1st team all region, Brycen Dillworth, all defensive team.  Redford's 236 rebounds, 10th most all time in a single season at EvCC & Raefe McEnroe's 63.7% FG% ranks highest all time at EvCC in a single season w/ over 100 attempts.  8 made academic honor roll.

Track and Field

Coach Julian Bardwell's final season as head Track and Field Coach. EvCC Athletes made the podium 21 times & 8 earned All American Honors.  The women's team scored 68 points tying for 4th place, which is the highest team finish in recent years. Women's 4x100 set school record to take 1st. Madison Straub was on the relay team and was 3x All American. Drew Hill was a 2x all American and won the 100m. His fastest time of the season ranks 2nd all time in the NWAC. Javon Grey also 2x All American was 1st in the triple jump, 4th all time in the NWAC.  12 athletes were on the academic honor roll.

Softball

34-9 overall record, north region champs, advanced to NWAC top 6.  Five players made first team all region 3 others were second team all region and Kaylie Hoskins was the North Region MVP and an NWAC All American. She broke the EvCC single season record for strikeouts at 289 and set a career record at 462.  Randy Smith was also named North Region coach of the year and has 423 career wins.  11 athletes made the academic honor roll and the team GPA was a 3.23, the highest among all teams.

Baseball

34-15 overall record, north region champs, and placed 3rd at the NWAC Championship tournament in Parker Guinn's first year as head coach. He was named North Region Coach of the Year.  Three players were named first team all region, four were named second team all region, 3 players received gold glove honors, and Konnor Palmeira was named the North Region MVP.  Palmeira, Ben Steck, and Xavier Ulrich all received ABCA All American Honors.  20 players made the academic honor roll, and the team GPA was a 2.98.
