Steve Okoniewski
2010 Hall of Fame Inductee - Former Student Athlete
Steve Okoniewski played football at Everett Community College in 1968 under Hall of Fame coaches Walt Price and Will McGillivray , and earned the title of All-American both offensively and defensively. He went on to become a standout offensive lineman at the University of Montana in 1970 and 1971 where he again earned All-American honors, and was later inducted into the State of Montana's Football Hall of Fame in 2021 . He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League as the number 42 overall pick. He played for six years in the NFL, with stops in Buffalo, St. Louis, Cleveland, and Green Bay. It was a part of the Packers organization where Steve played a key role on a very good defensive unit. After his playing career was over, Steve entered the education profession with time in Montana and Wisconsin where he was a long time Green Bay Resident. He found his home at Luxemburg-Casco High School near Green Bay , where he served for 25 years before retiring in 2014. On February 25, 2024, Steve passed away after a tenacious battle with sepsis, but lived an active life completing 5 marathons, hiking, running, or cycling daily.
