Dave Holden came to EJC from Garfield High School, where he was the first athlete to play and letter in basketball as a sophomore, junior, and senior. He competed at EJC in 1957 and 1958, becoming the team’s leading scorer in both years. He was also the state’s leading scorer (27 ppg) in 1958. A multi-talented individual, Holden was the drum major at the College, a talented musician, and was nominated as the Everett Herald’s Man of the Year in sports in 1957.
Holden was offered a scholarship to Seattle University, where he would have teamed up with Elgin Baylor, but instead he pursued a career in the music industry. As a musician, he played across the country, including a memorable gig with James Brown at the Apollo Theater. Holden lives in Seattle and is still active in the music business. In 2000, he was featured on historylink.org
