Third place is the highest finish in EvCC men's soccer program history.  This was accomplished in 2022 and in 1983. The 1983 team was led by first team all-conference defender Greg Sambrano, who played in both 1982 and 1983. Sambrano continued his playing career at the University of South Carolina Coastal, where he was chosen team captain and honored as Player of the Week in September 1984. He decided to return to his home state and pursue a degree in education at Central Washington University. His contributions to the soccer community continued when he was selected to coach the CWU squad, becoming one of a very few to ever be an NAIA head soccer coach and a full-time student at the same time. Over time, Sambrano coached the Yakima Reds, the Selah High School boys’ and girls’ teams, Olympic Development teams, and most recently the Southridge High (Kennewick) girls’ team. He lives with his family in Kennewick.
