Pasco, WA - Seven Trojans hit a total of nine home runs in the series win over Columbia Basin over the weekend.  Everett put up 51 runs over the four games and won three of four, the one loss coming by a single run in the final game of the series.

Everett jumped out on the Hawks early in game one with a three-run first inning and then hit two solo home runs (Micah Coleman & Nate Davis) in the 2nd and one solo long ball (Davis Downer) in the 3rd that seemingly set the tone for the remainder of the weekend.  EvCC didn't let up in the top of the 9th and scored 6 more runs to seal a 17-4 victory. AJ Hendrickson got the start and win going 5 innings with one earned run and striking out 7 batters.

Game two was called in the 5th inning due to daylight, but it didn't stop the Trojans from scoring double digit runs again.  This time the result was an 11-2 win with three RBI's from both Colin Beazizo and Jake Lockwood.  Jacob Peterson got the win on the mound going 3 innings, and giving up 4 hits, one earned run and striking out 4 batters.

The ball continued to jump off the bat in the 3rd game, with three more home runs (Colin Beazizo, Max Paterson, and Luka Ruljancich). The Trojans led 6-0 before CBC brought the game back to within four with two runs in the 6th inning. Then EvCC doubled their run output over the next three innings scoring two in the 7th, three in the 8th, and one in the 9th to close out a 12-3 win.  Adison Mattix got the win with 5.1 innings pitched, one earned run and 8 strikeouts.

In the final game CBC jumped out to a four run lead in the first inning, but Everett tied the game at 5-5 by the fourth inning with Luka Ruljancic's second home run of the day (a two run shot) and Max Paterson's two run single.  A 7-run 6th inning was the ultimate downfall, though EvCC nearly closed an 8-12 deficit dropping game four 11-12.  It was the first game where the pitching looked off their game with 7 walks and 10 hits allowed.  Still, the offensive output over the four games was extremely impressive.  Notable individual performances over the four days were:

The two strongest outings for the Trojans on the mound were:

  • Adison Mattix - 1.69 ERA, 5.1 innings pitched, 3 hits, 1 earned run, 8 strikeouts
  • AJ Hendrickson - 1.80 ERA, 5 innings pitched, 5 hits, 1 earned run, 7 strikeouts
  • Cooper McBride - 3 innings pitched, 6 strikeouts

Offensively the team combined for 57 hits, 5 doubles, 9 home runs, drew 21 walks, stole 12 bases and hit .385.

The Trojans will close out non conference play this coming weekend with a three game series against Grays Harbor.  A single game on Friday, March 14th (11am first pitch) followed by a Saturday doubleheader with an 11am first pitch.
