Keith Hessler is in his third season as the head baseball coach at Everett Community College. The 2024 Trojan baseball team finished 31-16 overall while winning the North Region Championship and placing 5th in the NWAC Tournament. The pitching staff ranked 3rd in ERA at 2.78 , 3rd in strikeouts with 422, 4th in K/9 at 9.17, and 5th in WHIP at 1.23. The offense finished 2nd in the NWAC in doubles with 77.
Ethan Hubbell and Jonah Shull were named 2024 ABCA Pacific Association 2nd Team All-Americans along with receiving All-NWAC First Team Honors. Pitcher Wyatt Queen was named All-NWAC 2nd Team. 11 Trojans received North Region honors for the 2024 season alongside Hubbell, Shull, and Queen. Blake Sandvik was First Team Reliever and Axel Puls was named a First Team Infielder. Micah Coleman, Nate Davis, Isaac Hoag, and Cooper McBride were named Second Team North Region at their positions. Axel Puls received a Gold Glove at shortstop and Colin Beazizo was named a Gold Glove winner in the Outfield. 2024 saw 9 Trojans move on to play baseball at the 4 year level. The team also carried a cumulative 3.14 GPA in the classroom.
In 2023 the Trojan baseball team finished 24-26 overall while winning two playoff games in the Lane Super Regional. The Trojan offense ranked 1st in the NWAC in runs scored, doubles, RBI’s, and extra base hits in 2023. The offense also ranked second in triples and home runs. That team produced two All-NWAC players in outfielder Braeden Terry and infielder Sheehan O’Connor, and saw 11 Trojans move on to the four year level.
Coach Hessler spent two seasons as the pitching coach under JoJo Howie and Parker Guinn. Hessler's first two seasons with the Trojans yielded a truly dominant pitching staff, one that ranked #2 in the NWAC in ERA at 2.32, and the combined 428 strikeouts is the most all time in a single season at EvCC. Starting pitcher Kenji Miller's 1.69 ERA ranked 3rd among pitchers that threw 80 or more innings and closer Devin Macwatters was as good as they come, making 14 appearances, recording 8 saves (the most all time in a single season at EvCC), and a lights out .46 ERA, giving up just one earned run all season.
Keith played 8 seasons of professional baseball, including two seasons in Major League Baseball, from 2011-2018 after being drafted in the 28th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was traded to the San Diego Padres in 2016 before finishing his playing career with the Colorado Rockies. Hessler completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Sports Management from Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC and is a native of Washington, DC.
