Everett, WA – The men's basketball came back to the Walt Price Center on Friday night after four straight road games. One of those games included a match up with Spokane in which the Trojans won 77-63 in Longview. Freshman, Leon Sayers had a breakout game scoring 19 points and Brendon Redford posted 14 points and 14 rebounds. Since that game the Sasquatch have gone on to win three straight and looking to settle the score on Larry Walker Court.
It was a fast pace start to the game with 20 total shots going up between both teams through the first media timeout, and Spokane held on to a 13-11 lead. The next five minutes of action featured a more solid defensive effort as both teams struggled to get any consistent scoring. Eventually the shots started to fall again and by half the Trojans held on to a 40-35 point lead on the heals of Leon Sayers' 17 points.
Brendon Redford came out strong with 9 points through the first six minutes of action. Cam Millican then scored 7 straight for the Trojans to build out to a 12-point lead. The cushion hovered around 12 for most of the 2nd half, getting to as few as 8 and as most as 16. With under two minutes to play in the game, the Trojan lead was 11. Out of a time out JT Smith hit a three to push the lead out to 14 and all but seal the game. By the final horn Everett won going away 82-66. Brendon Redford led all scorers with 23 and added 13 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the year. Leon Sayers did most of his damage in the first half, but still finished with 19 points, tying his season high, set back on November 28th the last time EvCC played Spokane. Two other Trojans scored in double figures, Cam Millican with 17 and 7 rebounds, and Brycen Dillworth who spent most of the first half on the bench in foul trouble, still got 10 with 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
Everett moves to 7-1 on the season and will face Tacoma tomorrow night at the Walt Price Center. The Titans come to town with a 3-3 record. Tip off is set for 6:00pm.
