#3 Skagit Defeats Everett at Home

Everett, WA - The Trojans took on NWAC #3 ranked Skagit Valley on Wednesday night at Larry Walker Court.  The 16-1 Cardinals flexed their muscles early building a 10 point lead in the first seven minutes of action.  That lead would grow to as many as 18 in the first half, as the Trojans went into the break down 38-20, the largest first half deficit of the season.  EvCC was outrebounded 21-12, and turned the ball over 11 times, which contributed to the first half struggles.

Three minutes into the second half, Shon Reid hit back to back three's which started a slow climb back for EvCC.  With ten minutes to play Everett trailed by just 8, but Skagit did just enough to keep a complete comeback at bay.  With under four minutes to go, a missed front end of a one and one prevented EvCC to get within six, and Skagit was able to convert on the offensive end to seal the game 63-48.

The loss puts Everett on a four game skid, but with an opportunity to pick up a win on Saturday against Shoreline who has just five wins on the season.  However the Dolphins lost in a close contest to Edmonds, but defeated Whatcom 87-68 earlier in the week.

The Trojans are a top 10 team in the NWAC in 3FG% and could use that to their advantage in a very important North Region match up Saturday.  Tip off is set for 4:00pm
