Great Day to be a Trojan

Great Day to be a Trojan

Everett, WA - It truly ended up being a great day to be a Trojan as the men duplicated the women's performance by shutting out the visiting Tritons 4-0, remain undefeated, and earn a half of a point towards the T-Trophy.  The win came off the heels of a recent United Soccer Coaches Association Poll which ranked EvCC as #7 in the country among partial scholarship two year colleges. Confident and eager to impress in front of a large home crowd, the Trojans came out with energy that set the Tritons back on their heels.  After six shots, three of which requiring a save by the Edmonds goalkeeper, EvCC finally got on the board in the 24th minute on a highlight goal from Emmanuel Nyaga (his 5th of the season).  Six minutes later Nayaga struck again finishing off a failed clearance from the Edmonds defense to put the Trojans up 2-0.

The flood gates were open, and the Trojans took advantage of Edmonds trying to reorganize.  In the 35th minute Luis Carillo scored his 4th goal of the season off of a Caleb Podoll throw in.  In the first half, Edmonds weathered 13 shots, nine of which were on target, and only 6 of which were saved.  All hopes of a second half comeback were dashed when an Edmonds player picked up a straight red card in the 49th minute on an elbow to the face of an EvCC player.  With the man advantage, Everett controlled the second half and not allowing Edmonds to get off a single shot.  Muhammed Darboe punctuated the game with a goal in the 70th minute (his 17th of his career) and the Trojans went on to win it going away 4-0.

While still undefeated, the Trojans have their work cut out for them traveling to Bellevue this Saturday.  The Bulldogs are 3-1-2 on the season and have not yet lost to an NWAC team.  Kick off is set for 2:15pm at Bellevue College.
