Everett Downs Edmonds A Second Time This Season

Everett Downs Edmonds A Second Time This Season

Lynnwood, WA - It was a defensive battle on on Wednesday night over rival Edmonds College, but the Trojans found a way to keep their unbeaten streak alive, and left Triton Field with a 1-0 win.  The victory keeps the Trojans in first place of the North Region standings, and earns a full point towards the T-Trophy Standings.  In the first half EvCC pelted shot after shot, 12 in total, and forced Edmonds to make 4 saves.  Despite the opportunities, EvCC could not find the back of the net.  Luis Carillo led the attack with 5 shots, one of which was on frame.  Defensively, EvCC only allowed one shot by Edmonds in the first half, and it did not test starting goalkeeper Avary Olson.

Right off the start in the second half, the Trojans got a shot on goal but Edmonds found some room in the stingy EvCC defense and finally found a way to get off some shots, still however none required an Olson save.  Muhammed Darboe had a pair of near goals in the 70th minute but finally broke the draw in the 85th minute after some neat dribbling that got around defenders and snuck one past the keeper to the far post. For Darboe it was his 10th of the season, and 14th of his Trojan career.  Everett's back line was solid all game, but one mistake gave Edmonds their best opportunity all game.  After a tackle, an Edmonds forward had only the keeper to beat but his shot went wide ride and the Trojans held on for the win.

The Trojans remain unbeaten and at the top of the North Region Standings, with three matches to play in the regular season schedule.  Winning out will guarantee first place in the north region, and two wins will guarantee a trip to the playoffs which would be for the sixth consecutive season for the program, and the third under head coach Kieren Raney.  The next match will be a home contest against Bellevue this Saturday at 2:15pm.
