
Everett, WA - The Trojans softbal team wrapped up a successful weekend, sweeping both Shoreline and Edmonds with back to back doubleheaders at Gaffney Field. In addition to climbing back to the top of the north region standings, EvCC locked up the T-Trophy for the 2024-2025 athletic season by taking three of four games, earning softball a point over Edmonds, and giving Everett the 5 total points needed to win the trophy.
After splitting 1-1 back on March 25th in Lynnwood, the Trojans entered Saturday's contest riding a two game win streak and poised avenge the dramatic 9-inning loss in their previous meeting.
Game 1: Walk-Off Wonder (Everett 5, Edmonds 4)
Game one had all the drama, and Everett delivered in the clutch. Down 4–3 heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Trojans showed incredible resilience. Emma Hansen tied things up with a clutch RBI single, and starting pitcher Alissa Hermansen followed with the game-winner to complete the comeback in front of a fired-up home crowd.
Hermansen was outstanding on both sides of the ball, going 1-for-3 with the walk-off RBI while also pitching a complete game. She scattered six hits, allowed just three earned runs, and struck out four to earn the win.
Everett showed great patience at the plate, drawing eight walks and capitalizing when it mattered. Emmajoy Wise contributed an RBI and scored twice, and Kirstyn Scott added a hit and a run to keep the pressure on Edmonds all afternoon.

Game 2: Offensive Fireworks & A Shutout Gem (Everett 8, Edmonds 0)
If the first game was a thriller, the second was a statement.
The Trojans came out blazing, putting up a five-run first inning to immediately seize control. Emma Hansen once again sparked the offense, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Kirstyn Scott came through with a 2-for-3, 3-RBI performance to lead the way.
Everett's bats tallied 11 hits in just four offensive innings, while the defense was flawless behind pitcher Taryn Takayoshi, who tossed a complete game shutout. She allowed just three hits and struck out five, completely silencing the Tritons' lineup.
Renee Riggins added a pair of hits, including two triples, and scored twice to fuel the early momentum.

On Friday, the Trojans delivered a dominant doubleheader sweep over Shoreline, outscoring the Dolphins by a combined 28–3 across both games. In Game 1, Everett exploded with an 8-run first inning and never looked back, winning 15–2 in five innings. Emma Hansen led the way with a home run, a triple, and five RBIs, finishing the opener 3-for-3. Pitcher Taryn Takayoshi was sharp in the circle, tossing a complete game while allowing just one earned run and striking out three.
Game 2 featured more offensive fireworks, with Everett scoring in every inning but the third en route to a 13–1 win. Shayne Hoekendorf and Olivia Boures each homered, while Amanda Webb added two RBIs. Alissa Hermansen pitched a solid complete game, limiting Shoreline to four hits and one run while striking out three. Across both games, Everett totaled 27 hits and committed just one error. Renee Riggins and Kenidee Holden were key contributors in both contests, combining for six runs, six hits, and five RBIs.
The four wins over the weekend elevates Everett to 16-6 overall and 11–3 in north region play, currently tied with Bellevue at the top of the standings. The Trojans have also climbed up to #6 in the latest RPI rankings, and will have an opportunity to climb further next weekend in Yakima at the NWAC Crossover tournament where EvCC will take on south opponents, Chemeketa, Umpqua, and Centralia, as well as east region power, #3 ranked Columbia Basin who has a 22-2 record.
