Trojans Bounce Back to Sweep Pierce

Everett, WA - After two tough one-run losses to Olympic College on Sunday, Everett bounced back to defeat Pierce in convincing fashion by scores of 12-5 and 17-4.  The bats were on fire scoring a total of 29 runs on 28 hits which included home runs by Emman Hansen (2), Alissa Hermansen, and freshman Amanda Webb who hit her first home run of her college career.  Everett put up five runs in the first inning of game one and never looked back.  Emmajoy Wise, Taryn Takayoshi, Olivia Boures had multi hit games, led by Gracie Salverda who went 3-4 with a triple.  In the circle Alissa Hermansen pitched all 7 innings with just two earned runs and recording 11 strikeouts.  She now has 240 in her career which is second all time behind Kaylie Hoskins (462).

Game two was more of the same as Everett scored six runs in the bottom of the first, and followed that up with four in the second, four in the third and three in the fourth.  The offensive onslaught never relented as all nine in the line up recorded at least one hit.  Six different Trojans recorded doubles (Boures had two), and Takayoshi had three hits, as did Gracie Salverda who was 3-3.  Takayoshi also pitched and went 5 innings before the mercy rule ended the game.  She gave up 4 runs, walked 2 and struck out 2.

The two wins keep Everett within striking distance of first place in the north region standings.  After Highline on Saturday, EvCC will meet up with first place Bellevue next Wednesday in a doubleheader that will likely decide the north region champion.
