Trojans night ends in heartbreak

Trojans boxing out to get a rebound

The Trojans (11-9) hosted Bellevue (11-4) Wednesday night as the Trojans looked to bounce back from a loss against Peninsula last Saturday. In the first quarter both teams played competitively and kept the game close with Bellevue leading 17-14. In the second quarter the Trojans played some lockdown defense as they managed to outscore Bellevue 16-9 and took the lead 30-26 going into the half.

Maciee Delaney had a career high 20 points last night, with Alexa Martin (18) and Hannah Hezekiah (14) also scoring in double digits. Going into the third quarter the Trojans looked to keep the lead by playing solid defense. The game stayed close but Bellevue took the lead 49-46 going into the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter was exciting as the Trojans kept fighting to keep the game close. With 6:44 to go Alexa Martin hit a 3 to tie the game. The Trojans would end up taking the lead but Bellevue would fight back tying the game up and going shot for shot with the Trojans.

With 16 seconds left Bellevue took the lead 61-59. Hannah Hezekiah would go to the line with 8 seconds left and miss one of her free throws but get the rebound and score giving the Trojans the lead, 62-61. This game however, would end in heartbreak as the Trojans gave up a quick score with one second, ultimately losing 63-62.

The Trojans play their next game at home Sunday February 2nd with Hannah Hezekiah only 50 points away from the 1,000 point club!
