The Trojans played at home against a tough Skagit Valley team Saturday after coming off a 3-0 win over Shoreline on Wednesday. The Trojan's looked to continue their momentum before going on the road next Wednesday for a big rivalry match in Edmonds.
Skagit started the match off with a quick goal in only the 3rd minute of the first half. The Trojans quickly gathered themselves together and came back with a goal of their own by Emily Newt-Fears in the 9th minute of the first half. Courtney Arnold was credited with the assist. As the two teams went head to head, it was Emily Newt-Fears who came up with a second goal in the 34th minute assisted by Mayu Nagaike to put the Trojans in front 2-1.
After the break, Skagit continued to battle and in the 55th minute they were able to tie it at 2. The score of the game resembled what was taking place on the field. It was back and forth and the girls were going after it. In the final 15 minutes alone, there were 4 yellow cards given out. Just when you thought regulation would end in a tie, Oshinaye Taylor scored a final goal in the 84th minute to ultimately win the game for the Trojans.
The Trojans look to take this momentum with them as they travel to Edmonds this Wednesday for a 2:00 pm start time.
