Lynnwood, WA - The Trojans earned a point towards the T-Trophy Rivalry standings on Wednesday afternoon in a 2-1 victory over Edmonds College. More importantly they kept their playoff hopes alive, with an opportunity to control their own destiny in the final two remaining matches.

The game did not start off on the right foot however for EvCC, conceding a corner kick three minutes into the match, and then failing to clear the ball that lingered in front of the net for what seemed like an eternity.  It was the Tritons' first goal since September 28th and just their 4th goal of the season.  Despite the set back, Everett responded five minutes later when sophomore Cassandra Sotelo intercepted a pass from an Edmonds defender and sent an arching shot from the right wing to the far post.  It found the back of the net for Sotelo's 5th career goal as a Trojan.

The Triton defense still looked to be on their heels because four minutes later it would be EvCC's turn to capitalize off a corner kick. Sophomore Alexis Bell took the corner and sent a ball right in front of the net that was tipped by the Edmonds keeper but not secured.  Similar to the first goal of the game, the ball stalled in front of the net.  Chloe Parker got off a shot that was deflected by another Edmonds defender but found the foot of Brynn Meno.  She was in the right place at the right time and scored her first career goal, putting the Trojans up 2-1.

Neither team was able to generate much offense for the remainder of the half, though Everett ended the frame out shooting Edmonds 6-4.  The Trojans controlled the second half offensively but failed to get a third goal.  Chloe Parker won the ball away from a defender in the 52nd minute and fired a shot that was saved, which was the best goal scoring opportunity of the half for EvCC.  Defensively the back line held strong for the Trojans and stopped every advancement from Edmonds.  Freshman Maya Medrano made two saves which kept Edmonds scoreless in the second half.

The win secures three more points in the north standings, and now trail 3rd place Skagit Valley by five points.  The Trojans have two more matches to play meaning they can make up that ground with a pair of wins.  EvCC hosts second place Bellevue on Sunday afternoon for sophomore day, and then have an important match with Skagit Valley on Wednesday, October 30th that could determine the final spot into the NWAC playoffs.   Sunday's kick off against Bellevue is schedule for 2:15pm at Everett Memorial Stadium.
