
Mount Vernon, WA - The women's soccer 2024 season concluded on Wednesday with a 2-0 defeat to Skagit Valley College. Everett played solid defense for the first 30 minutes of the contest, and allowed very few scoring opportunities, the Cardinals secured their first goal at the 32' mark when a ball was chipped over the outstretched arms of goalkeeper Ruby Wacker. Skagit's 2nd goal came in the second half after a turnover in the defensive third was converted into another goal scoring opportunity. Aside from those two mishaps, Everett's defense held strong, but they were just not able to get the ball into dangerous areas in their attacking third.
Three sophomores took the field for the final time wearing an EvCC uniform. Goalkeeper Ruby Wacker finished her two year career with 106 saves which ranks 3rd all time at EvCC and 4.5 shutouts which ranks 6th all time. Alexis Bell was the top goal scorer this season with 8, adding to her career total of 12 which is tied for 9th all time at EvCC. Cassandra Sotelo finished her two year career starting in 19 matches scored 5 goals and recorded one assist and sophomore transfer Maki Quiyono Wong appeared in 10 matches this season. Two other sophomores who were unable to finish the season due to injuries were Maggie Kozlowski, and Kahlan Buckley.
The final record on the season was 5-7-2 with 18 goals scored 36 goals allowed which ranks 10th all time at EvCC of fewest goals allowed in a season.
