Everett, WA - Whitney Williams became the all time winningest coach in EvCC volleyball program history on Friday when her squad won two matches at the Edmonds Crossover tournament.  Entering the day, coach Williams had amassed 55 wins in her fourth full season (hired in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic) and it would end up taking all five sets in both matches to secure the win record mark at 57.  In the first match against Tacoma CC, EvCC came out flat, but rallied to win the next two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-17.  The final set was an exciting one as EvCC prevailed 17-15.  Taylor Holland and Cadynce Knudson split setting duties combining for 36 assists while the attack was led by Halle Wilkinson and Maya Gaudia who each registered 9 kills.  Gaudia also had a season high 6 service aces and two blocks to combine for 17 points.

In the final match of the day against Spokane, it would be EvCC to take the first set but give up the next two.  Williams got the Trojans refocused for sets 4 and 5, winning 25-19 and 15-12.  Gaudia once again had a stellar performance with 14 kills (another season high for her) and also reached a season high in points with 19 by adding four service aces and a block.  Freshman Reece Nelson added 18 digs to combine with 26 from the previous match, which would hep her to earn north region defensive player of the week honors for the second time this season.

Whitney Williams is the 11th coach in the program's 46 year history.  The previous all time wins holder at 56 for an EvCC volleyball coach was Robyn Peckol-Filimaua who coached 2012-2018, and led the program to three post season appearances including the program's highest ever finish in 2014 when the team went to the Elite 8 and set the programs win record for a single season (24).

Williams and the Trojans are not done tallying wins this season.  Entering north region play with a 7-9 record after a tough non-conference schedule, EvCC will have a great opportunity to make a bid for a 3rd consecutive trip to the NWAC playoffs when they travel to rival Edmonds on September 25th.
