Tritons Get Upper Hand in Rivalry

Everett, WA – Everett and Edmonds met for the second installment of the T-Trophy rivalry series this season, the Tritons winning 3-1 back in September in Lynnwood.  The Trojans coming off a 3-0 win over Shoreline, while the Tritons last match was a 3-0 defeat to Bellevue.

Edmonds built a 12-7 lead to start the first set, but the Trojans responded with five unanswered points to tie the set.  It was still tied 14-14 when Edmonds seized momentum at 19-15 forcing an EvCC timeout.  Everett battled through several long rallys and climbed back to within one at 22-23 in which Edmonds responded with a timeout of their own.

Out of the break Halle Wilkinson capitalized on a kill, and the two teams went back and forth exchanging points.  It was tied at 26-26 before Edmonds strung together two straight points to steal away the first set.

The Trojans responded in the second set, and held a three-point lead.  Edmonds kept it close, and was able to tie the game up at 15, before a kill from Camilla Olive reclaimed the lead 16-15.  The Tritons then went on a 7-2 run that stole momentum back and cruised 25-18.

Everett fell behind early in set three and couldn't quite break a four-point cushion that Edmonds held.  The deficit grew to ten before the final 25-15.

Camilla Olive, Halle Wilkinson, and Maya Gaudia combined for 19 of the teams 25 kills, and Taylor Holland was one ace away from her career high of four.  Defensively Lexi Paule led with 19 digs and Camilla Olive added 3 blocks.

Everett's next match will be against Whatcom, who is playing solid right now.  The Orcas are 5-2 in north region play and defeated the Trojans in three sets back on September 27th.  That match will be on Tuesday, October 22nd at 7pm in Bellingham.
