Everett, WA - The Trojans handled business on Dig Pink night, defeating Olympic 3-0. The Rangers have struggled this season, winless over 18 matches but showed heart and competed hard in all three sets.
Everett took the first set, 25-21 albeit not one of their sharpest sets on the season. They capitalized on 14 Ranger errors, and spread out the attack as four different Trojans recorded kills led by Maya Gaudia's three. Olympic played strong in the second set with multiple long rallys. EvCC had a two point lead at 14-12 and then scored the next four straight to take control of the set. Morgan Armitage put the punctuation mark on with an authoritative kill to win set two 52-20.
In the final set, Olympic had the scored tied at 11, but the Trojans strung together an 11-1 run that Olympic could not recover from. Everett won it going away, 25-14. Six different Trojans recorded kills, led by Gaudia who finished the match with nine. Three other Trojans had six, Armitage, Camilla Olive, and Annika Mason. Setting duties were again split by freshman Taylor Holland (20) and Cadynce Knudson (11). Lexi Paule led the team in digs with 17 and Makenna Linehan added 2 service aces.
The Trojans will play their next match on the road, taking on top ranked Skagit Valley College. That game will take place on October 30th at 7pm.
