Shoreline, WA - The 2024 volleyball season ended on Friday night with a decisive win over Shoreline. Everett was mathmatically eliminated from playoff contention last week after an epic, five-set match against #5 ranked Bellevue, but there was little evidence of lasting effects as the Trojans rolled in three sets on Shoreline's sophomore night.
Everett jumped out to an early five point lead in the first set and led by as many as eight. Sophomore Halle Wilkinson and freshman Maya Gaudia combined for eight of the Trojans' 10 kills in the first set. Shoreline was not able to put much together in the second set, despite securing the first point. They soon fell behind by six and ultimately lost 25-14. Morgan Armitage and Camilla Olive got in on the action with 3 and 2 kills respectively. The Dolphins fought in the third set and held a 7-4 lead on four straight kills. A service error killed the run, and EvCC scored 5 straight reclaim the lead. Shoreline tied the match at 9-9 and even clawed back to tie the match at 21-21 after trailing by as many as five. But Everett was too strong and ended the match on four straight points, winning 25-21.
Gaudia led the way with 14 kills, the 9th time this season that she hit double digits. Armitage and Wilkinson each added 6, while Cadynce Knudson and Taylor Holland dealt up 11 and 13 assists respectively.
Everett ended the 2024 season 5th in the north region standings, one position away from qualifying for post season play. As a team, they averaged 1.49 blocks per set which is the second most all time at EvCC and 17.35 digs per set also ranked 2nd all time at EvCC.
Sophomore Halle Wilkinson ended her two year career at EvCC averaging 2.1 points per set which ranks tied for 9th all time at EvCC, and fellow sophomore Annika Mason had the 8th best hitting percentage from her middle position with a .196 hitting percentage.
Head Coach Whitney Williams completed her 4th full season (took over in 2020 during COVID), and registered 62 career wins which now ranks the most all time in EvCC program history for head volleyball coaches. A pair of freshman received post season honors, Reece Nelson was named 2nd team all region, and Taylor Holland was named 3rd team all region.
