Trojans Dominate in Conference Opener, Sweep Olympic College in Straight Sets

The Everett Community College women's volleyball team opened conference play in commanding fashion on Tuesday night, sweeping the Olympic College Rangers in straight sets (25-21, 25-15, 25-14) at Walt Price Fitness Center. With the win, Everett improves to 6-13 (1-0 NWAC North), while Olympic drops to 1-12 (0-1).


Set 1: Strong Start, Close Finish (25-21)

The Trojans wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to an early lead behind sharp execution and aggressive serving. Olympic kept it close throughout, but Everett held steady thanks to a well-balanced attack.

  • Maya Gaudia, a sophomore standout, made her presence known early with 6 kills in the opening set.

  • Setter Taylor Holland distributed the ball effectively, tallying 7 assists to orchestrate the offense.

  • Everett hit .241 as a team in the first set, compared to Olympic's .065, showing their offensive edge early on.


Set 2: Trojans Pull Away (25-15)

Despite a close start, Everett steadily pulled away in the second set, led once again by Gaudia and some sharp defensive play.

  • Gaudia repeated her first-set performance with 6 more kills, putting her at 12 through two sets.

  • The Trojans continued to outpace the Rangers, holding Olympic to just 3 kills and forcing 10 attack errors, resulting in a -.189 hitting percentage for the visitors.

  • Everett's offense cooled slightly, hitting .081, but Olympic's struggles made the difference.


Set 3: Holland's Serving Sparks Fast Start (25-14)

Everett sealed the match with a dominant third set, fueled by a 6-point serving run from Holland to open the frame. The Trojans never looked back.

  • Everett jumped out to a 14-5 lead, thanks to strong serving and early kills.

  • Gaudia added to her kill total, finishing the night with 15 kills on .303 hitting—a clear offensive leader for the Trojans.

  • Everett hit .250 in the final set while limiting Olympic to a -.065 percentage.

  • Olympic also gave up 9 service errors, limiting their momentum.
