Sophomore Aaron (Gregor) Byrne and freshmen Nahor Asso, Mamadi Sarr, and Logan Flem were named to the NWAC All-Region team and will play in the NWAC All-Star game on November 11th at 11:00am.
The Trojan men's soccer season came to an end last night after a 3-1 defeat to the #2 overall ranked and West Region Co-Champions, Tacoma Titans in the opening round of the NWAC Playoffs.
The Trojans men's soccer team capped off their best regular season finish in program history with a 3-1 victory over Skagit Valley Saturday afternoon. The 12-8-0 overall record is three wins more than the previous high of nine wins, set last year by coach Erik Cruz's 2017 team and the conference win total of nine wins surpasses the previous record set in 2007, when the team finished 2nd in North Region play and advanced to the NWAC Quarterfinals.
In the third and final regular season match between the two schools, Edmonds was able to take three points from EvCC by a final score of 1-0. The Trojans defeated the Tritons on two earlier occasions this season, and were going for their second straight year of sweeping their rivals.
Three goals within 4 minutes in the second half sealed the 5-2 win over North Region Opponent Shoreline CC on Saturday afternoon. The win comes off of back to back losses for the first time this year for the Trojans and a much needed 3 points was earned to keep pace for first place in the North Region Standings.
After a successful preseason, The Trojans opened North Region play again rival Edmonds Community College, a team that they bested three times last season.
The Trojans hosted the Spokane Sasquatch on Sunday, a program that has qualified for post season play the last 9 seasons, winning the east region championship in 4 of those years. Last season EvCC traveld to play Spokane and lost by a score of 8-0. For the sophomores, this was a game of redemption and a chance to prove that the Trojans belong among the NWAC's elite programs.
After all morning matches at the NWAC Soccer Friendlies in Tukwila were cancelled on Thursday due to poor air quality, the Trojans men's and women's soccer teams finally got the opportunity to kick off their seasons on Friday.
