Trojan Cross Country Preview

The Men's and Women's teams are building, and looking to improve on performances from the 2017 NWAC Championships.

The Women's team has 2 returners and 6 freshman. Returner Kaitlin Morgan placed 12th at the 2017 NWAC Championship, and Andrea Padilla placed 24th to help the team to a 2nd place finish in 2016. The freshmen group of Danielle Bauder, Ellee London, Sandra Hart, Maylynn Cendejas, Alison Canlas, and Caitlynne Hasbrouck have the talent and the work ethic to place amongst the top in the NWAC this year. After placing 5th as a team last year, the Women hope to be in the top 3, with 5 in the top 25.

The Men's team has one returner and 5 freshman. Returner Galmo Said had a great freshman season, placing 22nd at the NWAC Championship, helping secure 6th place for the Men's team. With the addition of Isaiah Funston, Tim Mandzyuk, Isaac O'Connell, Nathan McGinty, and Jacob Gepner, the Men hope to crack into the top 5 of the NWAC. With a mix of state qualifiers and distance specialists, this freshman class will immediately make an impact on the NWAC.

 

Women:

Danielle Bauder- Dani comes to Everett after a very successful career at Ballard High school. A distance specialist, Dani has run 19:12 for the 5k and will be a top NWAC runner this year.

Alison Canlas- Alison hails from Arlington High School. She ran 3 seasons of both XC and Track, logging personal bests of 22:02 in the 5k and 13:54 for 3200 meters.

Maylynn Cendejas- Maylynn comes to Everett from Valencia, CA. She competed in 3 seasons of both XC and Track, running 22:12 for the 5k, and 13:25 for 3200 meters.

Sandra Hart- Sandra was a mid-distance runner from Mountlake Terrace High School. Formerly a soccer player, Sandra has run 4 years of track, recording a personal best of 2:21 for the 800 and qualifying for the State Track meet in 2018. She has run 20:49 for 5k.

Caitlynne Hasbrouck- From just down the road at Mariner High School, Caitlynne competed in Track and XC for 4 years. She has personal bests of 14:07 in the 3200m, and 23:18 in the 5k

Ellee London- Hailing from Inglemoor HS, Ellee was a 4 year competitor for the Vikings in Track and XC. Ellee has recorded personal bests of 2:20 for 800m, and 20:39 for 5k.

Kaitlin Morgan- A 2nd year runner for the Trojans, Kaitlin originally comes from Stanwood HS. She was the top runner in every meet in the 2017 season, culminating her freshman season with a 12th place showing at the NWAC Championships. She also competed in the NWAC Track Championships, qualifying for the 800m Final as well as the 4x400, placing 5th in both. She has personal bests of 2:21 for 800m, and 19:05 for 5k.

Andrea Padilla- A 3rd year runner for the Trojans, Andrea originally comes from Granger HS. In the 2016 XC season, she placed 24th at the NWAC Championships. In the 2017 NWAC Track Championships, she placed 4th in the 10,000 meters 6th in the 5000 meters. She holds personal bests of 19:52 for 5000 meters, and 20:54 for 5k.

 

Men:

Isaiah Funston- A mid-distance specialist, Isaiah comes to Everett from Monroe HS. A 4 year Track and XC runner, Isaiah was a 2018 state qualifier in the 800m, placing 5th. He holds personal records of 1:54.71 in 800m and  16:42 for 5k.

Jacob Gepner- Jacob comes to Everett from Monroe HS. A 3 year XC and Track runner, he was run 19:20 for 5k, and 12:00 for 3200 meter.

Nathan McGinty- Hailing from Lake Stevens High School, Nathan was a 4 year competitor in Track and XC for the Vikings. He holds personal bests of 10:00 for 3200 meters, and 16:51 for 5k.

Tim Mandzyuk- Coming to Everett from Glacier Peak HS, Tim was a 4 year runner in both Track and XC, and also competed in Wrestling. He qualified for the state meet with his team his Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year. He has run 9:50 for 3200 meters, and 16:40 for 5k.

Isaac O'Connell- Isaac comes to EvCC from Everett HS. A 2 year competitor for the Seagulls in Track and 3 year competitor in XC, he has run 4:49 for 1600 meters, and 17:28 for 5k.

Galmo Said- A second year competitor for the Trojans, Galmo originally comes from Franklin HS. He placed 22nd in the 2017 NWAC XC Championships, and has run  27:57 for 8k. He also ran track for the Trojans in the 2018 season, setting the team lead in both the 800 and 1500 meters with a a 2:09.34 and 4:18.56 respectively.
