The 2019 Men's and Women's Cross Country teams both came up just shy of repeating as Northwest Region Champions. The men were three team points behind Green River College and the women were five points behind Green River College who for the first time in program history claimed both the men and the women's Northwest Region Championship in the same year.
The 5k course at McCollum Park in Everett, WA was a little slow with soggy grass and rocky trail conditions, so there were no PR's on the day but both races were competitive and served their purpose of prepping for the NWAC Championship meet. Ellee London paced the women's team finishing 1:09 behind the first place finisher from Green River. Teammates Mary Carbajal, Tracey Hatch, Maylynn Cendejas and Sandra Hart finished 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 12th respectively to round out the team scoring.
On the men's side it was another sophomore to lead the team. Nathan McGinty finished in a close 3rd and was followed by teammate Nathan Schneider who finished 4th. Jeffery Richner and Surfel Muche came in 6th and 7th respectively and Trent Henry closed out the team scoring in 9th.
The NWAC Championship Meet will be held on Monday, November 18th in Lacey, WA on the campus of St. Martin's University.
