Davis, a native of Chicago, Illinois moved to Everett where he began his collegiate running career in the fall of 2011 running for then head coach of the EvCC Trojans Matt Koenigs.   Gary was a member of the 2013 team that won the NWAC Championship, defeating Lane CC by two points. 

After completing his associates degree from Everett, Gary transferred to Warner Pacific University where he competed in cross country and track for the Knights.  His PR's included 50.90 in the 400m, 1:21.13 in the 600m (indoor), 1:56.77 in the 800m, 4:27 mile, 10:34 2 mile, and in cross country did 16:32 (5k), 27:03 (8k) and 36:18 (10k). 

Gary completed his bachelors degree in Parks and Recreation Management Degree in the spring of 2018, and immediately began teaching and coaching in the Everett School District, while also working at the YMCA.
