Garet Studer began as the Director of Athletics in the summer of 2017 after previously serving as the Director of Operations for the Northwest Athletic Conference.
Studer spent two years in the conference office where he was responsible for championship operations, sponsorship acquisition, marketing, and promotions for 15 men’s and women’s sports involving 124 athletic teams and over 1,800 student athletes and coaches. In his role he exceeded sponsorship goals by 33% and increased website and social media engagement by 70%.
Garet’s work ethic and energy are two strengths that stand out,” NWAC Executive director Marco Azurdia said. “He is a relentless worker with high standards and expectations, and is extremely passionate about providing excellent student-athlete experiences. Above this he first and foremost is a person of integrity.”
Currently, Studer is the only Athletic Director in the NWAC to have competed as an NWAC athlete, coached in the NWAC, and to have worked in the conference office. “I think the experiences I have had in the NWAC allows me to view things from different lenses,” Garet said. “Ultimately we are all here to help our student athletes succeed and leave us more prepared than what they were when they first got here. Their success is the reason we come to work every day.”
In addition to athletic department responsibilities, Studer also serves on the Snohomish County Sports Commission Board, including one term as the board chair, two terms as the North Region commission chair, and has chaired the NWAC Track and Field and Cross Country Sport Committee's since 2020. He is also a member of the NWAC strategic plan committee and served as an Everett Community College Title IX investigator.
EvCC programs have been competitive under Garet's leadership, with two NWAC championship game appearances, 7 final fours, 16 north region championships, and 9 NWAC track and field champions. 14 times EvCC head coaches have earned north region coach of the year honors, there have been 8 north region MVP's, and 4 NWAC players of the year.
Prior to athletic administration he was a community college instructor for six years and coached basketball at Clark College, where he also competed as a student athlete.
Studer attended Washington State University where he earned his bachelors degree in sport management with a minor in business administration. He remained at WSU for his graduate work where he received his Masters Degree in Higher Education Administration.
Garet and his wife Joy reside in Snohomish County with their sons Everett and Lincoln and their dog Savvy.
